How Long Are Commitments?

Commitments are typically one hour. POM commitments may be to another AA group, or may be at an area detox facility.

Commitments to Other AA Meetings

When POM undertakes a commitment to another meeting, we usually ask for 3-5 speakers to join us for 10-15 minutes of sharing their experience, strength and hope with other AA members.

What do we mean by “experience, strength and hope”? How has AA allowed you to get (and remain) sober? How has your experience in the fellowship improved your life? What message do you want to share with the alcoholic that is still suffering?

Commitments at Local Facilities

There are a number of local facilities where POM regularly does commitments. Often volunteers will be split into male, or female groups. As with commitments to other groups, the sessions usually last an hour.

Who Should Attend Commitments?

We ask that those attending commitments as speakers have at least 90 days of continuous sobriety. Members with less than 90 days of continuous sobriety are welcome to attend as observers.
